L.A.’s largest free Holiday Celebration takes place annually on December 24th, downtown at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the whole city is invited. The show is free, parking is free, and the 3-hour performance is a perfect way for families to join with their neighbors and celebrate the season. Two-time Grammy Award-winning salsa and Latin jazz band Spanish Harlem Orchestra will be this year’s special guest.

Additional music groups, choirs and dance companies from across the city will participate in this long-standing traditional event which has been sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors since 1959 and has taken place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion since 1964. If you aren’t able to attend in person, watch the show live on PBS SoCal or streamed live online at pbssocal.org.

This year’s highlights include the return of the all-female ensemble Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles with “El Gallo,” a witty original song that breaks gender stereotypes; choral music ensemble Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers; Invertigo Dance Theatre, performing a remixed version of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies; the 50-member choral group Colburn Children’s Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble; and Pacifico Dance Company, performing a folklorico piece from the Chihuahua region of Mexico.

New to the holiday celebration are contemporary dance company Bodytraffic with an ensemble piece entitled o2joy; Korean-American indie folk-rock band Run River North; MôForró, performing a medley of holiday songs in the style of Brazilian forró; Mostly Kosher, marking their first appearance on the program with the Hanukkah song Ma’oz Tzur (Rock of Ages); and more.
