Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra conducted by Thomas Axworthy
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Gloria Ramsey and Ian Farquhar. They may never have met, but Gloria and Ian tread very common ground. Both were much loved musical leaders adding immensely to the music of the recorder in teaching, performing, and composing. Gloria was a teacher and director of many groups and workshops in Southern California. Ian, in Bedfordshire England, was the founder and director of the Peregrine Recorder Orchestra as well as a prolific composer. The program will include some of Gloria’s favorite pieces by Byrd and Dufay. Ian’s work will be highlighted by a performance of his Symphony No. 4 and his arrangement of Schubert’s Rosamunde ballet music.
