EVENT INFORMATION

Our final concert is an evening of music by three of the greatest opera composers of the 20th century: Benjamin Britten, Hans Werner Henze and Leoš Janácek. The centennial of Benjamin Britten is celebrated with two wonderful harp and voice works with tenor Daniel Chaney and harpist Alison Bjorkedal. Henze’s L’autunno is an Italianate opera for winds featuring a cornucopia of instruments joining the traditional wind quintet, including piccolo, alto flute, oboe d’amore, bass clarinet, contrabassoon and even a Wagner tuba. The summer concludes with the wise remembrances of childhood from Czech master Leoš Janácek.
